Minnesota Twins theme nights announced for 2023 season

On a long enough timeline, every MLB team needs to find creative ways to attract fans to the ballpark and they'd better have a good strategy on how to do it. Promotions and ballpark gimmicks are as much a part of the National Pastime as hot dogs and home runs, and the Minnesota Twins have a track record of delivering the goods.

That's something that looks like it will continue this year, as the team has announced its lineup of theme nights for the 2023 season to go along with the normal promotional schedule at Target Field.

Twins ownership has likely paid close attention to declining attendance in recent years, including a notable faceplant last season. Minnesota posted one of the league's lowest post-COVID attendance totals, which is something that may have played into some of the theme nights that were decided upon for this upcoming season.

That's not a bad thing, though, because this year's lineup is objectively amazing and could attract non-Twins fans just for the items being given away.

Remember that these theme nights are not like other promotional nights that the Twins will be having at Target Field. Special tickets need to be purchased to secure the item that is being given away that night, but the upside is that anyone who wants an item will get one if they have a ticket.

Let's spare hyperbole, this is the best month of the entire theme night schedule. Prince Night always holds a place near and dear to my heart, but it's impossible to top the August stretch of theme nights and it's going to be hard to pick and choose which ones to go to if fans can't attend them all.

The Twins went for a Hat Trick in August in more than one way. The trifecta of pop culture nights -- Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Marvel -- would make this the best month on their own. We still haven't gotten a Star Wars-Twins crossover jersey yet, but it seems like only a matter of time before that happens. This year the button down baseball jersey will be conencted to Marvel night, and while the Twins haven't yet released a rendering of the jersey just the image of it in our heads is awesome.

As cool as those three nights are, they might not rank as the best the Twins are offering. That's a split between this year's collaboration with fellow Minnesota sports teams. SKOL Night will feature a Twins themed Vikings football jersey and Wild Night will feature a Twins themed Wild hockey jersey.

The Wild jersey might be the best theme night offering the Twins have this year. Not only is it a legit hockey jersey, but it's a crossover with the 'St. Paul' uniform set the Twins have -- which sort of lines up with the jersey the Wild wore for the Winter Classic that was held last year at Target Field.
