The last few months have been a rollercoaster of emotions for the Minnesota Twins. The Twins finally got a playoff series win which was great, but then Sonny Gray left for the Cardinals in free agency and Minnesota traded away veteran Jorge Polanco for a hefty package of prospects. In terms of grading the Twins' offseason, they don't deserve high marks if one was looking for the team to improve going into 2024.
That said, there is a ton to be excited about this season with the Twins. Byron Buxton seems like he is healthy and could be primed for a very nice bounce back season. Minnesota's core of youth with Edouard Julien, Alex Kirilloff, Royce Lewis, Matt Wallner, and Joe Ryan is absolutely loaded with upside. Hell, we haven't even seen Carlos Correa at his best and his performance in the postseason showed he still has it.
Now that 2024 spring training is here, we will finally get to see who the Twins are going to roll with this season. Many spots are pretty well locked in, but there is going to be a healthy amount of competition especially on the pitching side which means keeping an eye on spring training roster cuts should yield plenty of early clues as to the Twins' plans.
Twins spring training roster cut tracker: Who will make Opening Day roster?
Roster moves in spring training typically fall into one of two groups. Especially during the early portion of spring training, a lot of the minor leaguers that were brought in officially as non-roster invitees will be sent back over to minor league camp to get ready for their seasons if they aren't in the running for a big league roster spot. The other group is the non-roster invitees that are actively battling for big league roster spots. Those cuts will either result in them heading to the minor leagues as well or, in the case of a lot of veterans, those players getting released so that they are able to try and catch on with another club before the 2024 season.
Below you will find all of the spring training roster cuts the Twins make during spring training, big and small. This post is going to be regularly updated with the moves as they happen, so make sure to bookmark this page to keep tabs on the goings on in Twins' camp and to see how Minnesota chooses to go about building their big league roster before Opening Day.
