A new season means a fresh slate of Minnesota Twins promotions for fans to get excited about.

There’s already plenty to get excited about in terms of the team, as the return of Carlos Correa has reignited hope that next season will finally end differently than the last 32 seasons have. The Twins are in the midst of a 18-year playoff drought; not that they haven’t made the postseason rather they haven’t won a single game in October since 2004.

Minnesota beat the Yankees 2-0, in the Bronx, on October 5, 2004. That’s when the clocks stopped, because the Twins have since lost 18 consecutive playoff games, five playoff series, and one single-elimination Wild Card game.

Five of those series defeats have come at the hands of the hated New York Yankees — including the aforementioned 2004 ALDS — with losses to the A’s and Astros tossed in for good measure.

Whoa, that was a dark wormhole to get sucked down. But it highlights just how little there’s been to get excited about in Minnesota over the last three decades since the 1991 World Series. Ticket promotions don’t erase the pain, but they definitely smooth it and give fans a reason to come out to the ballpark.

This year, however, the promotions are coupled with a team that legitimately has a chance to end that playoff losing streak and restore some hope. Twins fans are used to lining up for bobble heads, but this season the real perk might be watching the product on the field.

Minnesota Twins Promotions 2023: How to buy tickets?

The Twins will have 34 games wil promotions or giveaways this season, which counts for just under half of their games. This pertains only to promos that are strictly game-exclusive giveaways, and not things like Meal Deals or other Ballpark gimmicks.

Fans can purchase tickets a number of different ways, including through the team’s official ticket system. It’s important to note that special tickets do not need to be purchased for any of the promos this year. Unlike years past, where ticket packages needed to be purchased to get things like unique theme jerseys, fans can get their tickets on secondary markets like StubHub and TickPick and still get whatever promo is being given away that night.

With that said, let’s dive into every single giveaway and promotion the Twins are having this year at Target Field. We listed out which games have promos, what the promo is, and how difficult it might be to secure the freebie.

Minnesota Twins Promotions 2023: April giveaways

Aside from July, which features the next highest number of promotions in a month, April is the sweet spot for fans hoping to come out to Target Field and leave with more than a win.

The first five home games will feature giveaways, including Opening Day 2.0 on April 6th. The Houston Astros come to Minneapolis for the Twins home opener, but only two of those giveaways are for adults. The final game of the series against Houston will be the first of many Kids Only giveaways, as fans 12 years old and under will get a different version of the Opening Day hat being given away.

The Twins Bomber Hat was a close second, as it falls in the middle of the Venn diagram for promos being both Twins-centric and also useful. It’s hard to top getting a free jersey, though. While it won’t be Team Store quality, the Twins have done a really nice job over the last few seasons of putting together high-quality jerseys for the themed giveaways (with the Prince baseball jersey particularly standing out).

Hardest Promo: T-Shirt Tuesday (April 25th vs. New York Yankees)

This will be the first of a handful of special edition shirts given away for every Tuesday home game this season. They’re limited to just the first 5,000 fans, and happens during a game against the Yankees which is surely going to draw a bigger crowd than a random Tuesday game against Detroit.

Hot off a stacked April, the Twins went light in May with the giveaways and promotions. To be fair, there are only 12 home games this month and half of those are against teams that rarely come to Target Field.

The Chicago Cubs come to Minneapolis over Mother’s Day Weekend. A week later the San Francisco Giants come to Target Field for just the second time ever (although they did come last season). It’ll mark just the third time since 2005 that the Giants have played in Minnesota. Both series feature promos, adding even extra incentive to see a pair of National League teams that don’t often roll through Minneapolis (the Cubs have been to Minnesota just three time since 2006).

Best Promo: Mother’s Day Tote Bag (May 14th vs. Chicago Cubs)

Thanking your mother by bringing her to a game is a gift in it’s own way, but the Twins are going a step further. The tote bag also falls into the category of ‘Kitchy yet Useful’ in terms of ballpark giveaway.

Hardest Promo: T-Shirt Tuesday (May 23rd vs. San Francisco)

There’s a theme developing here, and it’s that T-Shirt Tuesday is going to be a hot resale item on eBay. The first two T-Shirt nights are against the Yankees — a big draw — and the Giants, a team that when they pop up on the schedule will likely bring out fans hoping to see a team they don’t often get a chance to.

June might lowkey be the best month for promos, based on the ratio of games to giveaways.

Best Promo: Joe Ryan Bobblehead

Bobbleheads are catnip for baseball fans. The Twins have always done a fantastic job with their bobblehead promos and snagging one of Joe Ryan seems like a no-brainer addition to the collection.

Hardest Promo: Twins Bucket Hat

Don’t get it twisted, the Joe Ryan bobblehead is not going to be easy to secure. Fans sometimes stand in line for hours to be one of the first through the gates, but the bucket hat is an even more exclusive item. Only 5,000 fans will get one, making it one of the hotter items on the promotional schedule.

Minnesota Twins promotions 2023: August giveaways

August offers the first of two No Limit promotions, where every fan in attendance is guaranteed an item. Why Xcel Energy couldn’t have done this with the lightbulb promotion is neither here nor there, but the Twins Hall of Fame pin is a more desired option.

Don’t sleep on the second-to-last T-Shirt Tuesday of the season, either. The giveaway happens during a game against Cleveland, which is by far offers the easiest potential to snag one versus previous T-Shirt Tuesdays featuring the Yankees, Giants, and Brewers.

Best Promo: T.C. Build-A-Bear

Where adults had theme nights that produced crossover jerseys with the Wild, Wolves, and Lynx — and lest we forget the Prince jacket giveaway — kids have a peak giveaway of their own. The T.C. Build-A-Bear is 1A to the Carlos Correa bobblehead in terms of the best promo of the season, and the fact that it’s just for kids makes it even better.

Hardest Promo: T.C. Build-A-Bear

While it’s perhaps the second-best promo of the year, it’s also going to be one of the hardest. Sure, it’s just for fans who are of a certain age bracket, but the game is on a Sunday which is already a day designed to for kids. It’s also the last Sunday before most of the state starts up elementary school, which means it’s perhaps the last gasp of summer fun kids will get until 2024.

We’ve reached the final month of the season, and the last handful of chances to get in on the promo action.

Best Promo: Los Twins Jersey

The fact that this is a giveaway where every fan gets a free jersey puts it in the running for best promo of the season. It also occurs during a game against the New York Mets, who are a draw in their own right, so it’s truly a win-win for fans.

Hardest Promo: T-Shirt Tuesday

It’s the last home game of the season, and while the A’s are hardly a team anyone would get caught calling ‘must-see’, this could be a hard based on circumstance. If tickets to the game are cheap, and there’s an urge to catch one more game when the weather might be nice, 5,000 fans could accidentally be among the first to arrive and collect the final T-Shirt Tuesday of the season.
