Saturday was a glorious day for Minnesota Sports -- which feels like an oxymoron but somehow isn't.

Across the Target Field plaza the Timberwolves were crushing the Phoenix Suns to get out to a 1-0 series lead in the NBA Playoffs. Over on the diamond just a few steps away, the Twins were taking care of business for the first time in a week with a 4-3 win over the Detroit Tigers.

It was a much-needed win on every level for the Twins, who came into the game losers of seven straight games. Bailey Ober pitched an absolute gem and Minnesota fought off a late collapse to secure a win a week after getting their last one, which also came against Detroit.

Sunday will be key for the Twins in more ways than one as they attempt to keep the winning streak alive.

Keeping things rolling on Sunday goes beyond just getting another win. The Twins are sending Louie Varland (0-3, 8,36 ERA) to the mond for his fourth start of the season and he badly needs to turn in a good outing.

Varland has outright lost all three of his starts so far this season, even though he showed some promise in each one. His velocity never really wavered in his last start against Baltimore but he gave up six runs on 11 hits in a 7-4 loss. It was a tough go around not only because of the way Varland struggled but the context of it as well. Minnesota doesn't have a viable repalcement at the back of the rotation if things don't turn around, which adds even more pressure on Varland figuring things out.

We're still a few more bad starts away from that conversation happening, but a solid outing against the Tigers on Sunday will go much further than simply getting the Twins a win.

Offensively the Twins will be in a tough spot to give Varland proper run support. Detroit is starting Casey Mize (0-0, 4.11 ERA) who will be on the bump for the fourth time this season. He got off to a rough start, but has managed to reel things in over his last two games, with his last start being a 4-2 win over e really good Texas Rangers team.

Mize is one of the key pieces of hte Tigers potentially dominating rotation, and the Twins are going to be seeing a lot of him over the next few years. All that matters right now, though, is finding a way to keep things rolling and it doesn't seem like Mize is going to make it easy.

What time is the Minnesota Twins game today?

It's another day game for the Twins on Sunday. While there's still the narrative that they struggle in early games, Saturday was proof of life in terms of the team being able to find a way to win, which we will see if they can build on this afternoon.

  • Game time: 1:10pm CT
  • Date: Sunday, April 21st
  • Location: Minneapolis, MN
  • Stadium: Target Field

How to watch Minnesota Twins game today?

We're starting to get to the point in the season where games are going to be nationally televised. MLB on FOX hasn't gotten rolling yet, but both Apple TV+ and ESPN Sunday Night Baseball are well underway.

The Twins don't play on Friday Night Baseball until May 17th against the Guardians, and this matchup against the Tigers is decidedly not something ESPN is going to want to feature. Bally Sports North is where the action will be on Sunday afternoon.

Unlike Saturday, the Timberwolves aren't playing which means the Twins game won't get bumped to Bally Sports North Extra.

  • TV Channel: Bally Sports North
  • Announcers: Cory Provus, Justin Morneau, Audra Martin

There are also a few streaming options to roll with. Bally Sports North is nearly impossible to stream -- or straight up watch on television -- but there might be a few workarounds here:
