It's hard to overstate just how putrid the Minnesota Twins have been.

We're still in the infancy of the season, but already Minnesota's offense is missing and the lack of production at the plate is starting to weigh on the pitching staff. Injuries have also chewed through the roster, claiming Royce Lewis, Max Kepler, Jhoan Duran, and Carlos Correa has victims so far.

The result has been a 6-12 start that has the Twins seven games out of first place in teh AL Central and only a few games better than the lowly Chicago White Sox.

Making matters worse was the Twins failing to close out the Detroit Tigers on Friday night to drop their seventh straight loss. It's been an aboslutely brutal start to the season, one that Minnesota is going to desperately try to start turning around on a frigid Saturday in Minneapolis.

Bailey Ober (0-1, 6.57 ERA) is going to be on the mound for the Minnesota Twins, hopefully building on some of the good stuff we've seen out of him so far this year. It's been tough to find bright spots this year and whle Ober has struggled over his first few starts he's starting to trend in the right direction.

Ober has struck out seven batters and allowed one run on just six hits over his last two starts. He didn't get the win in either of those games, but that was largely due to how bad the Twins offense has been rather than being a reflection of his pitching.

Last time out against Detroit Ober went six scoreless innings but was done in by his bullpen which blew the game late. He looked good against the Tigers last Sunday, and another strong outing will confirm that he's on the right track in the rotation.

Over on Detroit's side, Reese Olson (0-2, 3.86 ERA) will try to help the Tigers make is two in a row against the Twins. He hasn't faced Minnesota yet this season, but had a strong game against Texas that saw him strike out eight batters while allowing just one run.

The Twins will be hoping for something more along the lines of Olson's start against Pittsburgh back on April 8th when he allowed six earned runs on nine hits in a 7-4 loss.

Minnesota Twins starting lineup, April 20

One big thing about the Twins lineup today is that it will feature rookie Jair Camargo making his official debut. He's been subbed into games late since getting called up last Saturday, but he's hitting eighth for Minnesota and should give fans something to look forward to.

  4. Trevor Larnach, RF
  5. Byron Buxton, CF
