We finally made it, Opening Day is here and Minnesota Twins baseball is back in our lives.

Spring Training ended on a pretty tough note, with the Twins sending four pitchers to the IL, including star closer Jhoan Duran. Minnesota will also begin the season without Caleb Thielbar and Justin Topa, two key relievers who will be replaced internally by Kody Funderburk and Cole Sands.

Anthony DeSclafani might already need season-ending surgery, which opened a lane for Louie Varland to secure the final spot in the rotation.

The barrage of injuries was a less than ideal way for the spring to end, but all attention now turns to how the Twins can try to run things back. Last season was the most success we've seen the team experience in over two decades, so it's safe to say expectations are high.

Twins vs. Royals start time and location

Minnesota will be starting its season in Kansas City against the Royals, which is exactly the way things went last year. The Twins are even sending the same pitcher to the mound, as Pablo Lopez was the team's Opening Day starter last year as well.

Fans will have to wait a little bit for the Twins season to get started. First pitch isn't scheduled until 3:10 pm CT but that just means everyone can take care of the things they need to during the day before settling in for Opening Day action.

It's not just Twins fans who have to wait for some baseball. Bad weather forced the first two games on the slate to be postponned until Friday, which means the season won't start until 2:05 pm CT when the Angels and Orioles take the field.

How to watch Twins vs. Royals on Opening Day 2024

So much was made about the lack of a television deal this offseason, which ended up having a major impact on Minnesota's offseason plans. The Twins slashed payroll due to uncertainty over television revenue, but all of the twists and turns simply led the team back to Bally Sports North.

That's where games will be broadcast this season, starting on Thursday with Opening Day.

Not everything is the same, though. Dick Bremer was pushed out last fall and replaced by long time radio play-by-play announced Cory Provus. It was a tough way for Bremer to end his four decade run as the voice of the Twins, but Provus is well-liked and there's a ton of excitement for this new chapter to begin.

How to listen to Twins vs. Royals Opening Day game on the radio

Cory Provus might be in the Bally Sports North booth, but the radio calls will remain strong this season. Kris Atteberry was promoted to the lead mic this offseason after the move with Provus was made, which means things on the radio side will sound different yet familiar as well.

Atteberry will still be joined by Dan Gladden, who returns to the booth for yet another season of work. We've heard Atteberry on calls before when he subbed in for Provus, but now the main gig is his.

Twins games will once again be broadcast on the Treasure Island Baseball Network, which is an umbrella that dozens of affiliates fall under. News Talk 830 WCCO, KMNB 102.9 FM The Wolf are the main stations in the Twin Cities, but there are a bunch of stations that will carry the TIBN across the state as well as North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
