While the Minnesota Twins put up 13 runs in Arizona on Thursday afternoon, lifting David Festa to a win his MLB debut, all anyone could think about was Carlos Correa's right arm.

Correa left the game in the seventh inning after taking a 94 mph pitch directly to his wrist and forearm area. He instantly headed to the clubhouse, holding his arm high and still while shaking his head and slamming his helmet in the dugout.

Everything about the incident seemed to suggest a nightmare scenario was playing out in real time, but somehow the Twins had good news not long after.

While it no doubt looked serious and caused a bit of panic, tests on Correa's arm came back negative and the team has initially listed him as day-to-day. There will be further evaluation to determine just how much time he'll need to miss, but miraculously it seems like the Twins avoided a massive disaster.

Twins get some unexpected good news after scary Carlos Correa injury

It wasn't the break that Twins fans were expecting to hear about after the game, but before the 13-6 win over the Diamondbacks had even wrapped up there was already a positive update on Correa.

It's still unclear how much time Correa will miss, assuming it's any time at all, but all that matters now is that a nightmare scenario has seemingly been avoided. Had the Twins lost Correa it would have taken one of the team's hottest bats out of the lineup.

Correa went on an all-time heater the other week, using criticism from both players around the league and beat writer LaVelle E. Neal as fuel in his Ferrari. After getting voted one of the most overrated players in baseball and called out for not providing enough offensive power, Correa mashed out a .548/.576/.871 slash-line and recorded five hits in a single game against Colorado.

His spark at the plate was a big part of Minnesota's turnaround on offense, and losing him would have been a devastating blow. He might still end up on the IL, in which case Brooks Lee's path to making his MLB debut will be wide open, but he won't be missing the kind of time that flashed before the eyes of fans who watched him walk off the field the way he did.
