Jose Miranda isn’t on the All-Star team but he’s heading to Cooperstown

The Minnesota Twins have had their fair share of representation in Cooperstown and now a current player is adding his name to that legendary status.

Former players like Kirby Puckett, Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, and Rod Carew have their names in the Hall of Fame. In just a couple days, Joe Mauer will have his name etched in history as well. But getting there before Mauer will be current player José Miranda — specifically his historic bat.

It was announced recently that Miranda’s bat that he used during his record-setting hitting streak will be added to Cooperstown.

Jose Miranda is beating Joe Mauer to the Hall of Fame — sort of

Miranda recently had one of MLB's most impressive consecutive hit streaks. He had a hit in 12 straight at-bats, tying an MLB-record.

The streak came to an end when Miranda flew out to left field with a chance to break the record, but tying the record isn’t to be taken lightly. This hasn’t been matched since 1952 by Walt Dropo of the Detroit Tigers and has only been done four total times in the history of MLB.

The now-famous bat showed power and poise during Miranda’s streak, during which he hit a total of seven singles, four doubles, a home run, and six RBIs. This legendary streak helped earn Miranda American League Player of the Week honors on July 8.

During the week, Miranda went 14-for-20 and was a key factor in the Twins finding their way back into the thick of the division race with a record of 53-41, and are now only four and a half games back of the Cleveland Guardians.

It’s almost impossible to overstate just how amazing the streak was for Miranda from the standpoint of turning his career back around. When he debuted with the Twin back in 2022 he looked like another stud youngster, but he fell off a cliff last season and nearly lost his way with the team.

Now Miranda is a fixture in the lineup, having regained an important role with the team and its future.

Twins fans were left perplexed when the record-setting Miranda didn’t make the All-Star roster despite his batting average of .325, which currently ranks third in the American League.

However, fans will likely feel that Miranda earned a slight consolation prize by getting his name and bat in the Hall of Fame.
