There is plenty to be excited about surrounding Twins' top prospect Eduardo Tait, but he isn't the only young catcher in the organization worth our attention. 22-year-old Khadim Diaw, ranked No. 21 in the Minnesota minors, is expected to be a legitimate breakout candidate in 2026 by MLB.com.
With 50-grade hit, run, and arm tools, Diaw has all the makings to surge with a few other hopeful prospects to the top of the team's leaderboard. He just needs to stay healthy.
Twins prospect Khadim Diaw is primed for breakout in 2026
Diaw's biggest problem is his health. He's suffered numerous thumb breaks, as well as a major back injury and wrist strain. This past season, Diaw missed all of June and July after a strong start with High-A Cedar Rapids.
Diaw was coming off a hot month in May when he batted .339 with 11 RBIs. He had driven in 20 runs in the first two months of the season, as his potential seemed to finally hit its stride.
Between Eduardo Tait, Enrique Jimenez, and Khadim Diaw, the Twins system is stacked with catching talent.

But then he injured his thumb and missed half the year. He tried returning in August, but was ultimately placed on the shelf for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.
A third round draft pick in 2024, Diaw owns a .286/.422/.404/.825 career slash line in two minor league seasons. His power was lacking, but he made up for it with a respectable walk rate and decent bat-to-ball skills.
There's a lot of potential in Diaw, but he just needs to stay on the field. He is a young catcher, but there is some worry that a player with an injury history like his can spell trouble in terms of longevity at the demanding position. Regardless, he will be a prospect for Twins fans to monitor in 2026. Who knows, he may just be the spark that this organization needs.
