The Minnesota Twins have lost six of their last seven games. Many fans likely wish the team still had the help of former players like Houston Astros infielder Carlos Correa. But there are also several ex-Twins whom fans should be glad are on other teams.
5 former Twins from the 2025 team who are struggling with their new clubs
Colorado Rockies UTL Willi Castro
Castro, whom the Minnesota Twins traded to the Chicago Cubs for right-handed pitching prospects Sam Armstrong and Ryan Gallagher in July, signed a two-year, $12.8 million contract with the Rockies in January. The utilityman is slashing .246/.316/.348 (78 OPS+) with one homer, four doubles, nine RBI and two stolen bases in 76 plate appearances across 21 games this year. The former Twin has already logged innings at all infield positions and left field for Colorado.
Miami Marlins RHP Chris Paddack
Paddack, whom the Twins traded to the Detroit Tigers along with right-handed pitcher Randy Dobnak for catching prospect Enrique Jimenez in July, signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Marlins in February. Paddack leads MLB in losses (four) and has a poor 6.38 ERA and 1.542 WHIP in 24 innings across five appearances in 2026.
Tampa Bay Rays RHP Griffin Jax
The Twins should be very happy with the Jax trade. Minnesota's return in the deal, right-handed starting pitcher Taj Bradley, has a dominant 1.63 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings across five starts this season. Meanwhile, Jax has surrendered 11 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits and seven walks in nine innings across 11 appearances in 2026.
San Francisco Giants CF Harrison Bader
Bader finished the 2025 season strong after being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies, hitting .305/.361/.463 (124 OPS+) in 50 games before signing a two-year, $20.5 million deal with the Giants in the offseason. The Giants placed Bader on the 10-day injured list (left hamstring strain) on April 15, retroactive to April 12. He has yet to be activated. Before landing on the IL, Bader had a rough .115/.145/.192 (-3 OPS+) slash line in 55 plate appearances this season.
Boston Red Sox LHP Danny Coulombe
Coulombe, who allowed just four earned runs in 31 innings with Minnesota in 2025, struggled after the Twins traded him to the Texas Rangers last season, posting a 5.25 ERA in 12 innings. He has continued to struggle with his new team, the Boston Red Sox, this year. After surrendering three earned runs on three hits against the New York Yankees on Thursday, Coulombe has a poor 7.11 ERA and 1.579 WHIP in 6 1/3 innings this season.
