The number of trades that transpired in the last several days was overwhelming. Minnesota's big move was acquiring right-handed reliever Jeff Hoffman from the Toronto Blue Jays for a package headlined by top pitching prospect Dasan Hill. The most notable move in the league was certainly the Los Angeles Dodgers acquiring back-to-back Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers.
In the Twins world, Minnesota also acquired left-handed reliever A.J. Minter from the New York Mets and right-handed starting pitcher Dean Kremer from the Baltimore Orioles. Some may forget, but in early July, the Twins traded for right-handed reliever Tommy Nance from the Toronto Blue Jays.
We all know the moves Minnesota made ahead of the trade deadline, so let's take a look at the former Twins players who were dealt before Monday night.

2B Luis Arraez - Traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Philadelphia Phillies
The Giants dealt Arraez, who is now a full-time second baseman, and right-handed reliever Caleb Kilian to the Phillies in exchange for pitching prospects Ramon Marquez and Marty Gair.
Arraez played for the Twins from 2019-22. Minnesota dealt him to the Miami Marlins for right-handed starting pitcher Pablo López in the 2022-23 offseason. Miami later traded him to the Padres. After hitting free agency this past offseason, he signed a one-year $12 million deal with the Giants.
The acquisition of Arraez nearly completely changes the Phillies' infield. With Arraez playing second base, Bryson Stott will move to third and Alec Bohm will move to first. Meanwhile, Bryce Harper will return to the outfield.
Arraez, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, has had an outstanding year, slashing .324/.360/.440 (120 wRC+) with four home runs, 43 RBI and 10 stolen bases. He has also improved defensively, recording +11 Outs Above Average at second base. Before this year, he had -36 OAA at second over his career.
RHP Tyler Mahle - Traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Atlanta Braves
The Giants traded Mahle to the Braves, a team that desperately needed to add starting pitching depth. Atlanta starting pitchers Spencer Strider, Reynaldo Lopez and Spencer Schwellenbach are all sidelined with injuries. San Francisco received minor-league pitcher Anthony Molina in the trade.
The Twins acquired Mahle from the Cincinnati Reds for prospects Spencer Steer, Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Steven Hajjar at the 2022 trade deadline. Unfortunately, Mahle made just nine total starts for the Twins from 2022-23 due to injuries before hitting free agency. He spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Texas Rangers.
Mahle will be a free agent at the end of the season. He signed a one-year, $10 million contract with San Francisco in the offseason.
In 94 2/3 innings across 18 starts this year, Mahle has posted a 5.13 ERA with a 4.38 FIP, 1.39 WHIP and 89 strikeouts.
C Ben Rortvedt - Traded from the New York Mets to the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers acquired Rortvedt from the Mets for right-handed pitcher Chayce McDermott on Monday. Rortvedt, who spent time with Los Angeles last season, wasn't on the Mets' 40-man roster, so the Dodgers can keep him in the minors without needing to add him to their own 40-man group.
Rortvedt, 28, made his MLB debut with the Twins in 2021. He appeared in just 39 games with Minnesota. On March 13, 2022, the Twins dealt the catcher to the New York Yankees as part of the blockbuster Josh Donaldson-Gary Sanchez trade. After playing for the Yankees, Rortvedt spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays before landing with the Dodgers toward the end of last season.
