We’ve rounded up latest Minnesota Twins news and rumors, and all the best things we read about our favorite team yesterday and today.
We’re just over a month away from pitchers and catchers reporting and Spring Training getting underway (on time, which is notable). But there’s no shortage of things happening, as Minnesota has been sucked in to absolute chaos.
Twins fans went from mild hibernation to getting whiplash from the new and unexpected Carlos Correa rumors this past week. Every dad is doing his best Godfather Part III impression explaining how just when the Twins thought they were out on Carlos Correa they get pulled back in — and in a serious way.
We thankfully have a lot to talk about with those rumors kicking back up, but there’s still plenty of other things to digest and pass the time with as we wait for the next season to roll around.
Latest Minnesota Twins news and rumors for January 10, 2022
Brew up that cup of Caribou — or park after going through the Drive-Thru — and start your day with the best things the internet is saying about the Twins this morning.
- Let’s not stand on ceremony. Ken Rosenthal dropped a late night bomb on Monday reporting that the Twins were accelerating talks with Carlos Correa. The MLB insider cited three different sources, which seems to indicate the Twins popping back up in Correa rumors is less of a Scott Boras leverage play and actually serious in terms of Minnesota landing the star shortstop.
- Did you know the Twins almost played a game in the Mall of America parking lot back in 2000? It’s true, and would have been perhaps the lowest the team sunk before Doug Mientkiewicz, Torii Hunter, Christian Guzman, and the beloved piranhas revived the franchise.
- Peter Labuza over at Twins Daily penned a really excellent piece on why the Twins should stay as far away from Trevor Bauer as humanly possible. Yes, Minnesota is in perpetual need of pitching, but Bauer is not the answer for a number of different reasons
- Speaking of pitching, for as frustrating as that part of the roster has been in recent years, FanGraphs wants Twins fans to know it’s not all bad. As it turns out, the Twins bullpen is the best position group the team has heading into 2023. Take that for what it’s worth.
Don’t forget TwinsFest is back…and the way it used to be
Like you forgot.
If the Carlos Correa stuff isn’t exciting enough, a deal might be timed with the arrival of TwinsFest later this month. For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, TwinsFest will be in-person again, with a weekend full of shenanigans for all fans.
Saturday is the best day, as it’s SIgnature Saturday and one of the main reasons fans love attending the convention. Don’t sleep on TwinsFest Live! on Friday night or the Futures Clinic on Sunday for younger Twins fans to get a chance to be apart of the game we all love with the team we hold so dear.
