Will the Royals spoil the Twins division title plans?

As mentioned in the opening slide, the Twins have managed to put together a 9-3 record against Kansas City this year. While that looks good, the games with the Royals have been much more competitive than the overall record would indicate.

In the 12 games with the Royals this season, 10 of the 12 meetings have been decided by three runs or less. Going further, eight of the 12 meetings have been decided by two runs or fewer. While the Twins have come up on the winning end of most of those games, it hasn’t been pretty and has called for a healthy dose of Tums down to the final inning.

Overall, this is a Royals team that is in rebuilding but is also finding several pieces that can help be part of the solution. The Twins were able to take care of their business with the White Sox, but with seven games remaining with Kansas City over the final week and a half, the Twins will have to have a successful finale at Target Field in order to get closer to clinching the American League Central.
