The Minnesota Twins sent C.J. Cron back to the 10-day Injured List ahead of this evenings contest against the New York Yankees.

Along with C.J. Cron, the Minnesota Twins would also option right-hander Zack Littell who had `some mixed results during his latest stint with the big-league club. With the corresponding moves, the Twins would select the contract of Cody Stashak and recall Lewis Thorpe. In his lone start with the Minnesota Twins, Thorpe pitched 5 innings and secured 7 strikeouts to the tune of a 3.60 ERA.

Cody Stashak has been brilliant this year in the minors with a 3.36 ERA in 31 games and an incredible 71 strikeouts in 50.2 innings pitched. Though it hurts sending Cron back to the injured list, it should help the Twins pitching staff as they’ve been shorthanded the past few games. The one question mark still out there is Byron Buxton. The Twins could use a little playmaking in the outfield and on the base paths, keep an eye on Buxton as he nears his return.

With Stashaks addition to the 40-man roster, the Twins now have 3 spots remaining to fill as the trade deadline nears. With the Twins looking to add a piece or two, there still should be room for another addition from within the organization. With the staff cycling through quite a few arms so far this year and some injury problems throughout the lineup, it’s anyone’s guess as to what the Twins decide to do.

It seems whenever the Twins near a full roster, another player is lost to injury. Hopefully, they can be at full strength soon, I have a feeling they may need all the depth they can get. While it hurts to lose Cron, Thorpe and Stashak now have a chance to help solidify a pitching staff in dire need of help.
