Trevor Larnach, the Minnesota Twins 2018 MLB draft first-round selection, was recently promoted to Double-A Pensacola continuing his quick rise through the minor league ranks.

A year after taking prep standout Royce Lewis with the number one overall selection, the Twins went with a college bat in Oregon States Trevor Larnach. At 6 foot 4 inches and 220 pounds, Larnach offers the size any major league team is looking for in the outfield. Batting lefty and throwing with his right, Larnach is quickly proving he belongs at the highest level in the game.

The highly touted outfielder has had quite a bit of success thus far in his short minor league career. Overall, in 127 games, Larnach is hitting an outstanding .311 at the plate to go along with some power in the form of 11 homers. Though a relatively small sample size, the 476 at-bats Trevor has under his belt proves his success is no fluke.

Currently rated as the Minnesota Twins number 4 overall prospect and number 93 in the MiLB top 100, Larnach has seen this type of spotlight before. Trevor Larnach and former teammate Nick Madrigal led the Beavers to the College World Series title in 2018. Another breakout star in that tournament who would see continued success was 2019 number one overall pick Adley Rutschman.

Trevor has an outstanding approach at the plate and will only get better as he gets more at-bats in the Twins minor league system. There should be enough power there to be at least a 20 homer per year type of hitter though he has to unlock his power to all parts of the field to get there. His hit tool and power tool are 55 overall as rated by MLB.com and also has quite a bit of arm strength earning a 55 in that category.

Though he has been a great addition to the Minnesota Twins organization, it may not be for long. With the trade deadline approaching and top prospects Royce Lewis, Alex Kiriloff, and Brusdar Graterol presumably untouchable, Larnach may be a nice trade piece to strengthen the playoff push. If Larnach is still with the Twins organization past the trade deadline and we’ve also added some new pieces, I will be extremely happy.

Though very young, Trevor is well on his way to sustained success in the MLB. He has the tools necessary to become a solid hitting everyday outfielder for the Minnesota Twins. Consider yourself lucky if you’re able to cheer for Larnach in a Minnesota Twins uniform in the next couple of years.
