The Twins made the right move in hiring Rocco Baldelli

As mentioned in the previous slide, the Twins raised some eyebrows when they decided to fire Paul Molitor one year after giving him a contract extension. With Derek Falvey and Thad Levine looking to hire one of their guys, they decided to head to the Tampa Bay Rays organization to hire Rocco Baldelli.

Baldelli came in doing a lot of the same things that Molitor did in terms of analytics but also decided to lessen the load on their players. The Twins didn’t do as much during spring training to prepare for the season and the Twins’ skipper has done his best to enact load management on his position players and the pitching staff.

The result has been a well-rested team that as to this point, has avoided the major injury. Although the Twins have been more frequent visitors to the injured list in the past couple of weeks, they should be ready to go when the second half starts in Cleveland on Friday night.

With a decent lead in their division and a buzz that hasn’t been associated with this team in nearly a decade, it’s clear that Baldelli was the right choice to lead the Twins.
