Following the Minnesota Twins win against the Texas Rangers at Target Field, the team announced LaMonte Wade Jr. would head to the injured list.

The Minnesota Twins front office placed yet another Minnesota Twin on the injured list. This time it was newly called up outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. that found himself headed to the IL. Just before today’s game, Wade Jr. was called up to take the place of injured first baseman, C.J. Cron. They’re both suffering from the same injury which happens to be a nagging thumb injury according to Twins beat reporter Do-Hyoung Park.

Though unable to secure his first major league hit, Wade was able to draw a walk and score a run to contribute to the team’s victory. Marwin Gonzalez would replace Wade in left-field as he cranked a solo-blast in the 8th inning to give the Minnesota Twins some insurance. LaMonte heads to the Minnesota Twins injured list which has claimed quite a few victims over the past couple weeks.

To take his place for the last game before the All-Star break, the Minnesota Twins have called up outfielder Jake Cave. Cave has been superb with the triple-A Rochester Red Wings though he has struggled when receiving opportunities in the majors this year. Cave has the potential to be a solid fourth outfielder for the Twins though his time seems to be running out.

Following the win today, Rocco Baldelli said Kyle Gibson will get the start tomorrow in what will ultimately be a bullpen game for the Minnesota Twins. Expect Gibson to only go a couple of innings at the most as the Twins get some work for the rest of the bullpen prior to the break. Here’s to hoping the Twinkies can make it through this one unscathed.
