Can Jorge Polanco continue his hitting streak?

On the field, Jorge Polanco is currently tearing the cover off the ball. The Twins shortstop comes into this weekend’s series riding a 14-game hitting streak where he has hit for a .351 average during that stretch. What’s even more impressive is that Polanco has filled Mauer’s void at the top of the lineup with flying colors as he’s become a catalyst with pop to get things going for the Twins.

As is the case for many Twins this weekend, this is a chance for Polanco to throw some more gasoline on the fire that has been the 2019 season. The Royals come into this weekend as one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball and Polanco could be the guy to not only set the table for Nelson Cruz, C.J. Cron and Mitch Garver, but drive in some runs himself as he’s sent 10 out of the park so far this season.

While the power has cooled off since his torrid start, Polanco has just kept hitting for the Twins. With another big series against the Royals, it’s possible that the MVP chants for the 25-year old could get louder as we head further into the summer months.
