News and Notes

Minnesota Twins 8, Kansas City Royals 11

The Twins apparently can’t pitch and hit in the same game. After a stretch where the Twins bats couldn’t do anything they went down 9-0 early and came back to within one run before losing 11-8. Fernando Romero finally looked hittable as he gave up nine runs (eight earned). Brian Dozier and Ehire Adrianza each hit home runs. Eddie Rosario continues his hot streak as he went 2-for-4 and scored from first on a Miguel Sano hit that bounced hard off of Mike Moustakas‘ glove.

May 31st Probable Starter: Shane Bieber vs. Jake Odorizzi at 7:10 PM CT

Rochester Red Wings 5, Durham Bulls 2

In a quick roster shuffle, Aaron Slegers did not end up starting for Rochester Wednesday. He instead made a trip to join the major league club. Omar Bencomo was promoted from Chattanooga and pitched 6.0 innings and allowed only one hit while recording four strikeouts. Kennys Vargas homered for the second game in a row as he went 2-for-4. Chris Carter also hit a two-run home run as he went 1-for-4.

May 31st Probable Starter: Dietrich Enns vs. Durham Bulls 6:05 PM CT

Chattanooga Lookouts 1, Birmingham Barons 7

Kohl Stewart got hit around pretty well in his start leading to a Lookouts loss 7-1 Wednesday afternoon. Stewart was only able to complete 4.0 innings and allowed seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and three walks. James Ramsey was 2-for-3 at the plate. LaMonte Wade drove in Ryan Walker for the Lookouts only run of the game.

The Miracle were able to win Wednesday’s game 6-3 over Clearwater. Jaylin Davis and Travis Blankenhorn were each 3-for-4 for the game. Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-4 and hit a home run in his second consecutive game. Tom Hackimer got a 1.2 inning save allowing one hit and striking out two.

May 30th Probable Starter: Clark Beeker vs. Clearwater Threshers at 6:00 PM CT

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4, Cedar Rapids Kernels 15

If those who were in Cedar Rapids Wednesday wanted offense they got it. In a game that had already seen 10 total runs combined, the Kernels absolutely blew up in the 8th inning. Jose Miranda who was 3-for-5 on the day started things off with a grand slam home run. Jacob Pearson and Robby Rinn followed up with solo home runs of their own. When it was all said and done, the Kernels scored 15 runs to defeat the Timber Rattlers.
