After pretty secure information that Jaime Garcia was on his way to the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night, the deal has fallen through. What happened?
Thursday night, the Minnesota Twins were making waves as they had reportedly agreed to a trade with the Atlanta Braves to acquire left-handed pitcher Jaime Garcia for a prospect. However, we ended up going into the night without resolution on the deal.
Friday, many Twins and Braves fans were checking social media and sports news websites, looking for the conclusion to the trade while others were debating who the prospect in the trade could be, and whether the Twins even needed Garcia.

As the night carried on, Garcia ended up making a start for the Braves against the Los Angeles Dodgers, throwing very well and even hitting a grand slam as the Braves defeated the Dodgers for the second straight game behind Garcia’s excellent start.
The Twins and Braves reportedly had discussions regarding the money in Garcia’s contract, and after initially having the Twins agree to take on all of the money, the Twins had requested to split the contract. That led to the prospect medicals getting exchanged, and from this report from Ken Rosenthal, that’s where the deal broke down.
