Minnesota Twins Game Grades: Can’t Solve Royals

Minnesota Twins still can’t figure the Kansas City Royals in loss
The Minnesota Twins have dropped yet another game to the Royals and have fallen to 11-34 overall.
Ervin Santana got the start for the Twins. Santana has been solid for Minnesota in this nightmarish season. Ervin, however, got in on the misery with a poor performance.
He allowed 6 earned runs over just 3.2 innings. Santana threw 80 pitches before being yanked.

Michael Tonkin took over and finished off the 4th inning and put in a clean 5th inning of work as well.
Ryan Pressly was tasked with 2 innings and allowed a run. Brandon Kintzler and Fernando Abad handled the last two inning of the game and kept the Royals from increasing their three run lead.
Offensively, the Twins put forth a decent effort but, crucially, couldn’t convert on a bases loaded, nobody out opportunity in the bottom of the 9th. The fearsome Wade Davis had allowed a double and 2 walks to juice the bases with nobody out. The Twins couldn’t even elicit a sac fly or RBI groundout. Two Twins struck out and another lined out to fizzle out a golden scoring opportunity.
