Amid Changes, Minnesota Twins Look To Take Down Division Leaders
The Twins have taken baby steps forward, and huge jumps backwards this week in games against the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros. They were man-handled in the first two games versus the Tigers, then let another winnable game slip away Sunday.
Jose Berrios provided a much-needed spark against Houston’s best pitcher, Dallas Keuchel, but then lackluster starting pitching performances (most notably by Phil Hughes) led to another series loss against a fellow cellar-dweller.
This weekend, the Twins (8-20) have the division leading White Sox (19-10) in their cross-hairs. A three game sweep would put Minnesota only 7.5 games back, and would bring new life to seemingly dead in the water Twins.

A sweep by Chicago could be a catalyst for even bigger changes than the ones the front office made today.
