Minnesota Twins lose again in Baltimore

The Minnesota Twins fell to 0-3 on the season with a sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles last night.

The score, like the previous game, was 4-2. And again, for the third time this season, the Twins were unable able to manage more than 2 runs

Phil Hughes got the start for the Twins and completed the 6th inning.

Hughes came out for the 7th but didn’t get an out. Trevor May took over and threw a wild pitch that allowed the game tying run.

The O’s also added another run on an RBI single. Both runs were charged to Hughes raising his total to 3.

May allowed a solo home run in the 8th as well.

Offensively, Joe Mauer launched a solo home run in the first inning to put the Twins on the board. Byron Buxton had an RBI groundout in the 3rd and that was all the Twins were able to manage.

The Twins will be glad to get out of Baltimore but will face a tough test against the Royals for their next series.

May inherited a runner on third with no outs—a very sticky situation but it was exacerbated by his wild pitch which allowed a runner to score and the other to move up to second and eventually score. He allowed 2 hits, including a home run, 1 earned run and struck out three. Even though it’s not reflected in the numbers, the go-ahead run was on him. . . Trevor May. RELIEVERS
