Rob Wilfong defeated Luis Castillo with 62% of the vote in round one. Rod Carew, unsurprisingly, walloped Bernie Allen taking 96% of votes. Wilfong now has the unenviable task of facing Carew.

Matchup #2: Carew vs Wilfong

For a reminder of either player’s accomplishments, have a look at their respective first round profiles. See Rod’s here and Rob’s here. Carew is obviously a Twins legend and a Hall of Famer. Wilfong is… well, not. He did make it to round two though. Beating Luis Castillo is nothing hang one’s head about. Wilfong’s one advantage over Carew is that he didn’t spend significant time at another position as a Twin. Neither player was able to win a World Series with the Twins. Carew did reach the playoffs with Minnesota whereas Wilfong did not.
