Byung-ho Park to meet with Twins

According to a recent report out of South Korea, Byung-ho Park is on his way to Minneapolis to meet with Twins officials.

The 29 year old slugger will first stop in Chicago, before traveling to Minneapolis, possibly indicating that the two sides are close to a contract agreement after the Twins won negotiating rights to Park with a bid of $12.85 million.

The deadline for the Twins to come to an agreement with Park is December 8th at 4 pm CT. If the Twins complete the signing of Park, speculation surrounding the future of Trevor Plouffe will increase. With Park primarily filling the DH role with some reps at first base and the emergence of Miguel Sano, Plouffe could be surplus to requirements for a Minnesota team that dramatically needs to improve the back end of its bullpen.

News of Park’s travel plans was first reported by Mike Berardino.
