Double Header: Make it or Break it

With lasts nights game in Cleveland being canceled due to rain, the Twins and Indians have a double header scheduled for today at 3:10 PM and 6:40 PM at Progressive Field.  Kyle Gibson (featured below), who was scheduled to start on the hill in last night’s game, will start game one, followed by Mike Pelfrey in game two.  With only six games remaining in the season, opportunities are dwindling.  Now is the time to strike.

As the Halos leapfrogged Houston last night, the Twins now see themselves 1 1/2 games behind LA and 1/2 game Houston in the wild card race.  Today will serve as arguably the most important date on this years calendar for Minnesota fans.  If the Twins are able to take both games today, along with some help from Oakland and Seattle, (who play LA and Houston tonight) they can catapult themselves into a tie with the Angels for the last wild card spot.  However, LA holds the tie breaker, having the advantage in the head-to-head season series thanks to a near four game sweep of the Twins earlier this month.

My hope is that with a pair of wins tonight, it would give the Twins five straight wins, shifting all the momentum to their end and would leave their fate in their own hands heading into the final four games of the season.  With even one loss tonight, it’s likely that they will miss out on the postseason entirely.

God Bless and Go Twins.
