When will Byron Buxton return to the big leagues?

Buxton’s big league debut was largely underwhelming. He showed flashes of being the player that the Twins hope he turns into, but he struggled to hit big league pitching. He hit just .189 in 11 games before being placed on the disabled list with a thumb injury.

While he struggled at the plate, Buxton provided stellar defense in center field. He showed off his speed and showed a strong arm. His best game came against the Chicago White Sox on ESPN2 when he hit lead-off for the first time in his big league career. Buxton started the bottom of the first inning with a lead-off double. He then scored on the next hit. He finished the night 3-5 and also recorded his first outfield assist.

When will Buxton find his way back to the big leagues? Molitor said Buxton could be out four to six weeks. When he returns he will likely play in some rehab games for the Rochester Red Wings in Triple-A. Depending on how he plays in those games and how the Twins current center fielder is performing could determine how fast Buxton makes it back to the majors.
