Report: Joe Maddon Not Coming To The Minnesota Twins

The dream is dead. It probably always has been, but we at least could dream for a nice little weekend. Darren Wolfson of KSTP TV and radio tweeted the time of death being 3:45 this afternoon. Joe Maddon will not be coming to Minnesota.

This news shouldn’t come as a huge shock, but it is news nonetheless. Terry Ryan said from the beginning that he was going to try to get the best manager available and not being able to reel in Joe Maddon for even an interview, one has not yet been reported, is at least to some level a failure.

The Twins move forward in their managerial search. It looks like the Twins are down to two candidates with Paul Molitor and Torey Lovullo. Lovullo is being interviewed for a second time sometime today (Monday), but not in the Twin Cities area.

It appears that Doug Mientkiewicz has fallen out of the race. Rumors are rampant that he might be moving up to the new Double-A affiliate in Chattanooga, Tennessee for the 2015 season.

Maddon has more MLB games managed under his belt than the three other candidates combined, but sometimes you just can’t get the prettiest girl to marry you… or go to the prom with you… or really even talk with you…
