Minnesota Twins Game 142: Lineups and First Impressions

The Minnesota Twins battled, got behind, battled, and eventually ceded a victory to the Los Angeles Angels last night. Despite using what seemed like the entire bullpen, and a late double by Trevor Plouffe, the Twins failed to hold on losing 7-6 in extras. Tonight, it’s Glen Perkins bobblehead night at Target Field. Phil Hughes takes the mound and he will be opposed by Cory Rasmus of the Angels.
Here is how each team will line up:
Minnesota Twins (61-80) Lineup
Danny Santana(S) CF
Brian Dozier(R) 2B
Joe Mauer(L) 1B
Kennys Vargas(S) DH
Trevor Plouffe(R) 3B

Kurt Suzuki(R) C
Eduardo Escobar (S) SS
Aaron Hicks(S) LF
- Phil Hughes
Los Angeles Angels (85-55) Lineup

Mike Trout(R) CF
Albert Pujols(R) 1B
Howie Kendrick(R) 2B
Erick Aybar(S) SS
David Freese(R) 3B
Chris Iannetta(R) C
Brennan Boesch(L) LF
C.J. Cron (R) LF

First Impressions
- Ron Gardenhire continues to put Danny Santana in center field. Whether it’s a man crush on Eduardo Escobar or a denial of reason, the nonsense needs to stop in September.
- Good for Aaron Hicks being back out there in left tonight, he’s played well and had solid at bats since being recalled.
- Phil Hughes has been dominant of late, let’s hope the string continues.
- Will Perkins pitch on his bobblehead night? He was dealing with neck stiffness last night.
Game Time
First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 Central from Target Field tonight. It should be an absolutely gorgeous night at the ballpark.
You can catch all of the action on FOX Sports North and heard across the Minnesota Twins Radio Network. No football will compete with the Twins tonight.
