Joe Mauer hit a three-run home run in the ballgame and had four RBI on the day. That’s really all you need to know, because a Mauer three-run dinger is like a blood moon, it doesn’t happen all that often.

For a second game in a row, the Twins got a great outing by their starting pitcher. Kevin Correia took the mound for the Twins and pitched seven innings of one-run ball on five hits. Casey Fien and Jared Burton each pitched an inning a piece to close out the ballgame for the Twins during their 6-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Wei-Yin Chen started the ballgame for the O’s and three runs (two earned) in five innings. Brad Bach came in relief for Chen and gave up three runs of his own via the Mauer dinger.

The 1-2 spot in the lineup provided some power for the Twins on Saturday. Brian Dozier hit a solo home run in the third to break a 1-1 tie. A Trevor Plouffe RBI double and a JJ Hardy RBI single were responsible for the first runs for their teams.

The only other extra-base hit on the day for the Twins was a fifth inning double off the bat of Kurt Suzuki.

The Twins and Orioles face off again on Sunday with first pitch at 1:10 Central.
