Twins Take Scott Diamond In Rule 5 Draft
First of all, if anyone calls it the Rule V Draft, take them down a notch or two on your blogger rankings because it is the Rule 5 Draft.
The Twins were one if 19 teams to make a selection in this year’s Rule 5 Draft when they took Braves farmhand Scott Diamond. The 23 year old Diamond had a 1.39 WHIP and struck out 123 batters and walked 54 between AA and AAA for Atlanta last year.
True to Twins pitchers, Diamond doesn’t throw very hard, but has two pretty good pitches and has good control. He will probably be a long reliever for the club, though it’s possible he could be a lefty matchup guy as well.
The Twins did not lose anyone to the Rule 5 Draft.
