The Twins should trade Ryan Jeffers if they receive an offer that's too good to turn down
The Twins' front office shouldn't plan to trade Jeffers no matter what ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline, but they should deal him if they receive an attractive enough offer. It looks like three of the top American League contenders (New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox) are interested in acquiring Jeffers, who appears to be the top available catcher on the market. Minnesota has had solid production from catchers Victor Caratini and Alex Jackson lately, so the team could still make a playoff push without Jeffers.

Minnesota is still in the thick of the playoff race
After defeating the Athletics on Sunday, the Twins were just one game back of the Cleveland Guardians for the final American League Wild Card spot. Minnesota could easily find itself in a postseason position before the deadline, making it difficult to justify going in full sell mode. But if they lose their six games before the deadline while the other contenders play well, then Minnesota may want to sell.
The American League apears to be wide open
When looking at the American League contenders, none of the teams really stand out besides the New York Yankees, who are in second place in the American League East. The Tampa Bay Rays hold the best record in the AL, but the Yankees' run differential is roughly double the Rays'.
As for the other top AL contenders, the Boston Red Sox were a losing team for most of the year until this month, the Texas Rangers lead the American League West at just two games above .500, and the Guardians and Chicago White Sox don't appear to be much better than the Twins.
Twins have best offense in American League
Minnesota leads the American League in runs scored at 511. If the Twins can continue scoring at that level, they could do serious damage in the playoffs if they make it that far. Minnesota proved it can still have an elite offense without Jeffers when he missed nearly two months with a left hamate bone fracture, so the team should be open to the possibility of moving Jeffers while attempting to make the playoffs at the same time.
What the Twins do need is pitching help. The club has suffered numerous starting pitching injuries and the bullpen has been among the worst in baseball for most of the year. Currently, the Twins rank No. 25 among all 30 MLB teams in ERA (4.67). If the Twins can add pitching reinforcements ahead of the deadline, the club could be legitimate contenders to win the AL.
