Minnesota Twins Daily Dip, August 3rd, 2017

Minnesota Twins 5, San Diego Padres 2

The Twins opened with a 4-run 2nd inning and took the final game of their road trip behind a tremendous pitching performance from Ervin Santana. Santana allowed 2 runs in the 4th, but otherwise was nearly untouchable, throwing a complete game, allowing 4 hits and a walk, striking out 9. Miguel Sano had his 25th home run and a single. Joe Mauer had a double, single, and a walk. Jorge Polanco had a double.

August 3rd Probable Starter: Adalberto Mejia vs. Texas, 7:10PM CT

Lehigh Valley IronPigs 4, Rochester Red Wings 3

Lehigh Valley jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back on Wednesday. Tim Melville made the start, going 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and a walk, striking out 6. Jake Reed continued to get stronger as he’s fully healthy, going 2 perfect innings in relief, striking out 4. Niko Goodrum had three singles. Daniel Palka had a home run and a single. ByungHo Park had a single and a walk. Mitch Garver had a double.

August 3rd Probable Starter: Hector Santiago vs. Lehigh Valley, 6:05PM CT

Chattanooga Lookouts 5 Montgomery Biscuits 2

Chattanooga jumped out early and held on for the win. Fernando Romero went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits and no walks, striking out 3. Travis Harrison had a home run and a single. Levi Michael had a pair of singles and a walk. Ryan Walker had a single and a pair of walks. Alex Perez had two walks. Nick Gordon had a double.

August 3rd Probable Starter: Brady Anderson vs. Jupiter, 6:05PM CT

Kane County Cougars 9, Cedar Rapids Kernels 1

Kane County jumped out to an early lead and never gave it up. Evan Sanders got the start, going 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks, striking out 3. Christian Cavaness had a triple and a single. Jimmy Kerrigan and Lewin Diaz each had a pair of singles.

GCL Twins 9, GCL Rays 4

The Rays scored first, but the Twins jumped back out in a hurry and then both bullpens put up zeroes from the 4th inning on. Michael Kohn opened the game with an inning of rehab, allowing a run on a hit and no walks, striking out 1. Blayne Enlow got the win with 4 1/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on 4 hits and no walks, striking out 4. Alex Robles had a home run and a double. Kidany Salva had a pair of singles. Emmanuel Morel had a single, walk, was hit by pitch, and stole a base. Royce Lewis walked three times and stole two bases. Benjamin Rodriguez had a single and two walks. Victor Tademo and Humberto Maldonado each had a single and a walk.

August 3rd Opponent: vs. GCL Rays, 11:00AM CT

DSL Rockies 8, DSL Twins 5

The Rockies put up a 3-spot in the top of the 9th to break a 5-all tie and win the game on Wednesday. Fredderi Soto went 3 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks, striking out 1. Felix Reyes had a pair of singles, a walk, a hit by pitch, and stole two bases. Yeltsin Encarnacion walked 3 times. Estamy Urena, Cesar Salazar, and Jesus Feliz each stole a base.
