It was about the sixth inning when my roommate sat down on the futon and said, ‘Not looking too good, huh?”

Being the Minnesota sports tornado that I am, I just kind of shrugged and said something to the matter of that’s how it goes. The score was 3-0 in favor of the Detroit Tigers after an Ian Kinsler solo home run. I kind of depressingly looked around the room for a couple innings and then the seventh and eighth innings happened.

In the seventh, Danny Santana was called on to pinch hit for Aaron Hicks. Santana answered he challenge with a RBI single, finally putting the Twins on the board.

In the eighth inning, Rajai Davis helped the Twins tie the ballgame up. Josmil Pinto hit a single to left field, but the ball went past Davis who was looking up to see what the runners were doing. Brian Dozier scored from second, Mauer scored all the way from first due to the error which tied the game at three.

Eduardo Nunez stepped in next with Josmil Pinto at second. Nunez hit a single to center that scored Pinto and gave the Twins the 4-3 lead.

Sam Deduno was the Twins starter for the day. Deduno tossed a quality outing going six innings giving up three runs on six hits. Deduno recorded five strikeouts on the day.

Jared Burton, Casey Fien and Glen Perkins finished the ballgame for the Twins. Perkins came in for the four-out save after Fien was hit by a line drive off of his throwing arm.

Billy Ray Cyrus’ character on Hannah Montana, Robbie Ray, was the starter for the Detroit Tigers. He went six innings of shutout ball for the Tigers. Al Alburquerque gave up one run, Joba Chamberlain was responsible for the other three.

Josmil Pinto, Eduardo Nunez and Eduardo Escobar were the only Twins to get multiple hits on the game, each recording two apiece. Escobar was the only Twin to hit for extra-bases getting another double.

Manager Ron Gardenhire was ejected during the game, his first ejection of the season.

Eduardo Nunez started in left field for the Twins on Sunday. From the seventh inning on the Twins had an outfield of Nunez in left, Danny Santana in center and Chris Parmelee in right.

In his second game back from injury, Joe Mauer notched another one hit, one walk ballgame for himself.

The Twins are off on Monday. They start a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
