And as the 294th Inductee into the Hall of Fame….

Yeah Bert, why aren't you in the Hall of Fame?

And as the 294th inductee to the Baseball Hall of Fame…

Despite 11 years of getting snubbed…
And being the voice of a ballclub to thousands…
And being 2 time All-Star…
And 2 time World Series champion…
And being named AL Comeback Player of the Year in 1989…
And throwing a no-hitter September 22, 1977…
And having a career record of 287-250…
And a .331 career ERA…
And creating the Circle Me Bert sign…
And being a member of 3000 strikeout club…
And being the only eligible member of that club not in the HOF…
And posting 60 career shutouts…
And amassing 4,970 career innings pitched…
And having to put up with Dick Bremer….
And being 5th on the All-Time strikeout list…
And being a 3-time ML shutout leader in ’73, ’85, and ’89…
And in the top 30 in career wins…
(Jeeze this list is taking longer than it’s taking to get Bert in the HOF)
And being the A.L. Strikeout leader in 1985 with 206…
And for being named to the All-Metrodome Team and being adored by fans…
And being the only pitcher with 50 or more shutouts who is not in the HOF…
And did I mention getting snubbed for 11 straight years…
Bert Blyleven, ladies and gentlemen! Let’s welcome him into this coveted and elite club. Don’t hold the 11 years against us, statistics show that the people who just missed the cut got in soon there after. And now thats you…buddy. So are we good now?
