With their 2nd round pick, the Twins have drafted high school shortstop Cartier Goodrum from Georgia. Goodrum, who goes by Niko, is a switch hitter, but that might be abandoned in the future as he has good raw power but struggles to make contact.
Goodrum is tall and wiry and should definitely fill out his frame. However, I would question whether or not he will remain at shortstop. I would assume he will be an outfielder, or possibly a third baseman.
Goodrum has tons of upside but I don’t know if he’ll have enough bat to justify a 2nd round pick.
