The Biggest Twins News You’ll Hear All Day

facebooktwitterreddit

The Twins have released infielder Steven Tolleson off the 40 man roster. Tolleson has been claimed by the A’s.

The former University of South Carolina star has a career .276/.368/.400 line in 5 minor league seasons. His best year was 2008 in  New Britain when he went .300/.382/.466. No huge loss on this one. Tolleson doesn’t have the bat to be a starter and doesn’t have the glove to be a utility man. This move corresponded with the Jim Thome signing.

Now, onto that other news: Sources have reported the Twins and Mauer are close to a 10 year deal, whereas Buster Olney says not so fast. It appears no deal is done, but one is probably close seeing as Olney works for ESPN and they are about as reliable as an old man’s bowels. I’m not going to comment on any of the Mauer rumors as of yet, but rather wait until everything is done and dusted. Don’t worry folks, there is a long time to go before the season starts.

#9 in my prospect series will be up either later tonight or tomorrow.
