In the past month the Minnesota Twins have watched two of their top three prospects make their big league debut. Now the Twins number two overall prospect, Miguel Sano is set to make his big league debut against the Kansas City Royals.

Earlier today the Twins announced that they had optioned Kenny Vargas to Double-A Chattanooga. When Sano was not in the Chattanooga Lookouts starting lineup in today’s game, Twins fans everywhere rejoiced.

According to multiple reports the Twins have promoted Miguel Sano to “The Show” from Double-A Chattanooga.

Sano was hitting .274 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs. In his last ten games he was hitting .359 with three home runs and 10 RBIs.

Sano was named the Southern League Player of the Week during his last full week in Double-A. He hit .588 with two home runs, five doubles, seven runs and seven RBIs.

The slugging big man will likely serve as the Twins everyday designated hitter. But, he will also likely see time at third base. Twins Manager, Paul Molitor also referenced Miguel Cabrera when talking about the possibility of Sano playing left field, so that’s always an option.

The Twins lineup lacks power, as they’ve only hit 64 home runs all season. Sano’s power will be a nice addition to the Twins lineup as they continue their pursuit of their first playoff birth since 2010.
