Kyle Gibson Aiming to Bounce Back

Kyle Gibson is looking to bounce back from a rough first start against the Detroit Tigers. The Minnesota Twins starting pitcher is coming off a start in which he pitched just 3.2 innings and gave up six runs and walked five batters.

A year after struggling with consistency it will be intriguing to see how Gibson bounces back against the undefeated Kansas City Royals. Last season Gibson had a 1.42 era in his 13 wins. His earned run average in his 12 losses was 11.04. The Twins are hoping Gibson can find a happy medium in 2015.

Gibson will take the mound at Target Field tonight. Standing in his way will be the hottest team in baseball. The Royals are 7-0 and scored 12 runs in the first game of the series. As a team, the Royals are batting a league best .329 and have scored 52 runs.

Gibson has a good track record against the Royals. He’s made three career starts against the Royals, including his first career start. In his first start back in 2013, Gibson picked up his first career win, going six innings and giving up two runs. Overall, Gibson is 3-0 against the Royals with a 1.40 earned run average.

If the Twins are going to hand the Royals their first loss they need Gibson to be “Good Gibson”.  If his track record is any indication, Gibson could be the man that cools down the Royals.
