Sam Fuld is gone which means the Minnesota Twins need another mediocre white guy that’s a so-so major league baseball player that can cover the outfield. The Twins officially got their man on Sunday when they claimed Jordan Schafer who was DFAed by the Atlanta Braves.
My cohort here at the Pond, Ted Schwerzler, wrote about the possibility of Schafer coming to the Twins and put it perfectly about the skill set of Schafer:
Schafer was recently DFA’d by the Atlanta Braves, and while he was hitting just .163/.256/.213 for Atlanta, he is more than capable in the outfield. A career .222 hitter, he would not be looked at for his bat. The Twins would only be looking to place a claim on Schafer for his ability to cover the outfield as a fourth option.
We go to LaVelle E. Neal III for the low down on the rest of the information about Schafer:
Schafer will join Tuesday. Roster move will be made then to place him on active roster. Schafer will wear uniform No. 1
