Minnesota Twins Game 106: Lineups and First Impressions

facebooktwitterreddit

The Minnesota Twins came out of the gates firing last night as they were able to take game one of the series against the Kansas City Royals.  Kyle Gibson out-dueled Royals ace, James Shields and helped the Twins to cruise to a 2-1 victory.

Tonight for the Twins, Phil Hughes will take the mound and he will be opposed by Danny Duffy for the Royals.  Hughes will be looking to get back to early season form.  Duffy has been relatively consistent for the Royals this year, and the Twins will likely need more than the two runs they mustered last night.

Here is how both teams will line up.

Minnesota Twins (48-57)

Danny Santana CF

Sam Fuld LF

Brian Dozier 2B

Josh Willingham DH

Trevor Plouffe 3B

Kurt Suzuki C

Chris Colabello 1B

Chris Parmelee RF

Eduardo Nunez SS

Kansas City Royals (53-52)

Nori Aoki RF

Omar Infante 2B

Eric Hosmer 1B

Salvador Perez C

Alex Gordon LF

Billy Butler DH

Mike Moustakas 3B

Lorenzo Cain CF

Alcides Escobar SS

First Impressions:

  • The Twins will move Nunez back to shortstop tonight and will have a more typical designated hitter in Willingham.
  • Oswaldo Arcia remains out of the lineup following the birth of his son, however, yesterday there were reports he would rejoin the team today in Kansas City.
  • Both Colabello and Parmelee get back in the lineup tonight for the Twins.
  • The Royals decided to go with the same lineup they sent out last night against Gibson, hoping for more offense against Hughes.
