Typically once a year the Minnesota Twins induct someone into their own Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame. This year has turned out not to be a typical year with the club announcing on Thursday that the celebratory day will be canceled due to the recent troubles of this year’s honoree.
Chuck Knoblauch was tapped as the 2014 inductee, but the Twins and Knoblauch decided the ceremony should no longer go through after the four-time All-Star was charged with misdemeanor assault for hitting and pushing his ex-wife recently in Houston, Texas.
The Associated Press reports that Knoblauch has been released on $10,000 bail and that his first court date is set for Wednesday, July 30.
The induction ceremony was set for August 23.
Knoblauch is 46-years-old.
