Swarzak Spots the Twins a Win

The Minnesota Twins came into the rubber match against the Cleveland Indians seeking the decisive series win.  While Kyle Gibson was scratched from the start due to back stiffness, it was Anthony Swarzak‘s task to bring home the win for the home team.

The scoring was broke open in the third inning for both teams.  In the top of the third, the Indians watched as a David Murphy leadoff single turned into the games first run as Jose Ramirez doubled to left.  After a Michael Brantley lineout, Chris Dickerson was stranded at third.

In the bottom of the inning, the Twins rallied back.  Following a Danny Santana triple, Sam Fuld singled to center to drive in the run and knot up the score at 1.

The Twins got to Trevor Bauer once again in the bottom of the fifth inning.  A Brian Dozier double drove in Santana from second to score both his and the Twins second run of the game.

Up 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Oswaldo Arcia took a 2-2 count and deposited it over the right field wall to give the Twins a 3-1 cushion.

In the ninth, Glen Perkins came on to make quick work of the Indians.  After a Carlos Santana single, Perkins struck out Mike Aviles and Yan Gomes to end the game.

The Twins are back in action tomorrow night at home against the White Sox.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm central time.
