Remember when the Minnesota Twins swept the four-game series of the Chicago White Sox? That seems like years ago now. The Twins fell again on Saturday afternoon losing their fifth straight game or a ninth straight road loss.

Phil Hughes went 7.2 innings, but gave up five runs on 11 hits and took the loss for the Twins. His mound opponent was Yu Darvish whom did Yu Darvish like things. Darvis went eight shutout innings while only giving up four hits, one walk and struck out 10 Twin batters. The Twins wouldn’t get any offense and fell 5-0.

The Twins were only down two runs going into the eighth inning, but the Rangers had a nice little rally to extend their lead highlighted by a Leonys Martin two-run double.

Minnesota’s offense only notched the four hits off of Darvish with only three Twins registering hits. Joe Mauer and Oswaldo Arcia both recorded a single. Chris Parmelee notched two singles in his start in left field.

A nice offensive day for Texas was by, unsurprisingly, Adrian Beltre who went 3-for-3.

The series finale is scheduled for a 2:05 first pitch. The Twins kick off a series against the Kansas City Royals at home on Monday.
