Somewhere in the midst of the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers 21-run game yesterday, Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe was injured. The injury to his oblique was serious enough that the Minnesota Twins have placed him on the disabled list. Pedro Florimon has been activated for Sunday’s game and will take Plouffe’s place on the active roster.
In 64 games this year Plouffe is hitting .241/.320/.400 with five home runs and 38 RBI. Plouffe’s 38 RBI currently lead the Twins, the recently hurt Brian Dozier and Triple-A player Chris Colabello round out the top three for the Twins.
Pedro Florimon was the starting shortstop at the initial onset of the 2014 season. In 25 games at the major league level this season, Florimon is hitting .108/.194/.154 with seven hits, one RBI and one extra-base hit.
