Glen Perkins Has The Tampa Bay Rays In His No-Trade Clause

Glen Perkins is great with the media and he was great again on Monday morning when he joined Mackey and Judd on 1500ESPN. Scott Korzenowski was playing the role of Phil Mackey for the day, Judd Zulgad played himself.

Perkins joined the station as he was about to go fishing with bullpen mate Brian Duensing during the team’s off-day in Tampa, Florida. While talking about the Tampa area, Perkins said that the Tampa Bay Rays were one of the teams in his limited no-trade clause. Perkins said this unprovoked, Zulgad jumped at the opportunity to ask Perkins who the other teams on the list are but Perkins gave a rare no comment.

The Twins closer said that the no-trade clause to the Tampa Bay Rays is purely because of the stadium, Tropicana Field. Perkins did say that he loves the team and the franchise, though.

When Zulgad asked about the other teams, Perkins didn’t disclose the other teams, but did say there was three or four more teams that he cannot be traded to.

You can hear the interview with Perkins on the hour three podcast of the Mackey and Judd show on 1500ESPN’s website.

Perkins did say that the rest of the pitchers were out golfing, so, yes, being a major league ball player is officially the best job in the world.
