Minnesota Twins Sign All-Star Closer Glen Perkins to Four-Year Extension

Twins win! Twins win! Twins win! They actually won in more ways than one on Friday afternoon. On the actual field, the Twins beat the New York Yankees, 7-3, and tied the Baltimore Orioles, 2-2, but I’m still burying the lede.

The Minnesota Twins restructured All-Star Closer Glen Perkins’ deal and he’ll be a member of the Minnesota Twins for a long time.

This is a huge win for the Minnesota Twins in keeping the base of the bullpen in Minnesota for years to come. Perkins is one of the best closers in the game and will hopefully be closing games for a winning team soon.

The other benefit is that money-wise, Perkins gave the Twins a hometown deal. Perkins could have made some more money somewhere else, but stayed at home. A big win for the Minnesota Twins today and for all of our hearts.
