Minnesota Twins Send Sixteen Out of Big League Camp

Monday was a rare off-day during Spring Training for the Minnesota Twins, but it does give us time to reset and look at the roster, more specifically the ones who have just departed major league camp. On Sunday, the Twins made some cuts so let’s see who is gone, courtesy of the Twins official site.

Non 40-man roster invitees who were sent to minor league camp:

Kyle Knudson – C

Matt Koch – C

Stuart Turner – C

Byron Buxton – OF

Chris Rahl – OF

Miguel Sano – 3B (injured)

Alex Meyer – P

Lester Oliveros – P

Yohan Pino – P

40-Man assigned to minors:

Triple-A Rochester

Trevor May – P

Logan Darnell – P

Edgar Ibarra – P

Brooks Raley – P

Double-A New Britain

Kennys Vargas – 1B

Single-A Fort Myers

Jorge Polanco – IF

Max Kepler – OF

None of the demotions were a surprise for the Twins, in the terms that all of them eventually would have been demoted anyway. I would have enjoyed watching Byron Buxton in a couple more spring games, but you can’t ask for everything. Same thing goes for Kennys Vargas, the David Ortiz mini-me is one of those projects that is fun to watch. Oh well.

Twins play Tuesday at the Tampa Bay Rays. Game time is noon central.
