Minnesota Twins Reportedly Interested in Rajai Davis

How do you like your Rajai Davis? The Minnesota Twins are in on him, according to KSTP’s scoop-man Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson.

Rajai Davis was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2013 and notched a very nice WAR of 1.8. 2013 was Davis’ second best year WAR-wise, in 2009, he had a 3.2 WAR.

For you more conventional stats folks, here is Rajai Davis’ 2013:

.260/.312/.375/.687, 6 HR, 24 RBI, 45 SB, 6 CS, 108 Games

Rajai Davis’ 162 Game average according to Baseball Reference:

.268/.316/.377/.693, 5 HR, 44 RBI, 53 SB, 13 CS

Doogie reports that sources are telling him that the Twins are willing to go multiple years on a contract for the 33-year-old Davis.

Davis debuted in 2006 and has traveled around the league ever since. Davis has played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, Oakland A’s and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Davis throws right and bats right.

Davis has played his whole career in the outfield, except for one inning in 2008 when he appeared at second base. Davis has appeared in 443 games in center, 232 in left and 102 games in right.

    Seems like a good fit, depending on dollars. Hicks/Presley can still make the roster, and play all 3 outfield positions as needed late in games or to give Willingham and Arcia days off. With the arrival of Buxton likely in 2015, I wouldn’t give him more than 2 years, though.

      I’m intrigued by the stolen bases Davis apparently can get. It’d be fun for the Twins to have a true speedster.
