Sunday July 7th, 2013 saw the Twins system go 2-4 on the day as the parent club lost for the 13th time in their last 17 games. Their surprising 33-36 record back on June 20th is a quickly fading memory. Rochester on the other hand won their sixth game in a row.

Minnesota Twins (37-48): 11-5 loss to Toronto (43-45)

LHP Scott Diamond (4.2 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 1 SO) got rocked allowing three home runs. It was the fourth time this season that one of his starts has resulted in a Game Score of 25 or below. This particular start (21 GSc) tied for his second worst outing as his ERA has ballooned to 5.52 and he’s allowed eight HR in his last four starts.

3B Trevor Plouffe‘s 2-4 day at the plate included a 2-run homer in the 8th inning. It was his 9th on the season. CF Aaron Hicks also had a 2-run shot, his 7th, in the game.

Rochester Red Wings (47-45): 12-7 win over Pawtucket (52-38)

RHP Vance Worley (6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO) was far from impressive but turned in a “quality start” by a very narrow margin. Fortunately his counterpart, Rubby De La Rosa gave up 6 runs and didn’t make it out of the first inning.

The lineup as a whole was 14-36 (0.389) with 8 walks and everyone that started had a hit with the exception of 1B Chris Colabello. He went 0-4 with a walk, run and strike out.

In his fourth game since joining Rochester, RF Jermaine Mitchell went 3-4 with 3 R, HR, 4 RBI, BB and SO.

New Britain Rock Cats (43-45): 4-3 loss to Portland (45-41)

RHP Tom Stuifebergen (6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO) had a shutout through five innings before allowing a pair of runs in the 6th.

DH Josmil Pinto (2-3, RBI, BB) and 1B Reynaldo Rodriguez (2-4, R) each had a pair of hits while 2B Eddie Rosario‘s (1-4, R) double was the only extra base hit in the game for the Rock Cats.

Fort Myers Miracle (54-28): 3-0 win over St. Lucie (44-39)

In his first game back after a rocky trial run in New Britain, RHP Matthew Summers (9.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 SO) was masterful on Sunday. He turned in his first complete game of 2013 and the second in his young career. It seems rather clear that he’s kind of in limbo right now. He probably needs to be pitching above High-A but it doesn’t appear he’s quite ready for Double-A just yet.

DH Mike Kvasnicka (2-3, 2B, RBI, SO) and SS Levi Michael (2-5, R, SO) combined for four of the team’s seven hits.

Cedar Rapids Kernels (52-33): 5-3 loss to Clinton (42-44)

LHP Mason Melotakis (5.0 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 SO) has hit a wall. Since throwing seven shutout innings on June 10th, he’s given up 23 H, 13 ER and 8 BB in 20.1 IP.

RF Adam Walker (2-4, RBI) hit his 18th double of the season and SS Jorge Polanco (1-4, R, SO) hit his 22nd.

Elizabethton Twins (12-3): game postponed by rain

GCL Twins (8-6): scheduled off day

DSL Twins (15-16): 5-4 loss to the DSL Giants in 10 innings

RHP Johan Quezada (3.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO)

2B Gabriel Ynfante (3-4, R, 3B, RBI, BB)
